Current status: in Harrisburg, PA
For those who are new to the blog, I come here often because my sister lives here so I’m constantly trying to find new places to eat and things to do. (but mostly eat).
This time around, I went to a place called Home 231 which is located in the heart of downtown Harrisburg. What attracted me to this restaurant is that they use fresh ingredients from local farms which I always like to support!
It was a nice and cozy restaurant, a perfect time to come to it after having walked around a while on a chilly evening.
When we sat down and saw the menu, I immediately knew I wanted to order the Hanger Steak. However, I still wanted to ask the waitress what is the most popular item on the menu (I do this often when I come to a new restaurant). She said that it was the Hanger Steak which made my decision even more solid! I love it when I see a menu and know exactly what I want! lol
My friend order the Spinach Salad with Salmon.
Okay so let’s get right to it. My steak had so much potential to be great because it was cooked to a perfect medium well (just the way I like it). But unfortunately it was too charred! I don’t mind a char steak but when that’s all you taste, it kind of ruins it. 🙁
I also tried the salmon which I really liked, a lot more than my steak! It was moist and seasoned well and you could tell the greens were all fresh.
Then came time for desert, which I didn’t really think I wanted until I saw that they made fresh donuts in-house on the menu. I’ve recently discovered that fresh donuts are my new love!
These donuts came with 3 sauces, Chocolate Ganache, Creme Anglaise and Salted Caramel. You guys, these were sooo good! They made up for the steak experience! I wouldn’t mind some right now to be honest and I’d go back just for these any day!
Taste: 3.5/5 (Because of the char on the steak)
Atmosphere: 5/5 Nice and cozy
Customer Service: 5/5 (Our waitress was super nice!)
Price: 5/5 (I think everything was fairly priced)
Overall Experience: 4.5/5 (I’ll be back for those donuts and to try another dessert!)

This place is so sweet – I love all the festive, twinkling lights. Such a shame about your steak, though! I’m pretty particular with my steaks haha… but nothing a little mushroom sauce can’t fix :p
