Since we did so much the day before, it was so hard to wake up on day 2! But knowing that we had a day ahead of more fun, we managed to get up and start the day at 9 AM!New York City 2

ANSEL DOMINIQUE BAKERY – CRONUT

We got ready and went straight to Ansel Dominique Bakery in SoHo to find ourselves the much talked about cronut.Dominique Ansel Bakery Cronut NYC 6

Since we got there at 10, I thought we wouldn’t have made it in time to get one because they only make a certain amount each day and once they are out, they are out.Dominique Ansel Bakery NYC 1Dominique Ansel Bakery NYC

We got lucky because we managed to get two, one for each of us to try! We excitedly bought them and headed out to their back patio which was so cute!Dominique Ansel Bakery NYC 2

I loved the neutral color choices with the pop of yellow. It was very Parisian.

Even the packaging of the goodies was perfect!Dominique Ansel Bakery Cronut NYC 1

So after I got over the package and interior design of the place, it was time to sit and bite into the cronut. For those of you who don’t know, a cronut is a hybrid of a doughnut and croissant.Dominique Ansel Bakery Cronut NYC 2

My initial thoughts? Well, I loved the texture and the look of it all and even the taste was pretty amazing! However, it was too rich for me. As you can see there is icing on top, but also there was a sweet filling inside.dominique-ansel-bakery-cronut-nyc-4

Personally, I would have enjoyed it without the filling which is why I fell in love with another one of their treats instead. It’s called DKA and it was sooooo good.dominique-ansel-bakery-dka-nyc-1

I’d stand in line for this! It tasted like a cronut but without all the extra stuff! We had taken these to go and ate it later on the Staten Island Ferry which I regret.dominique-ansel-bakery-dka-nyc-2

If I had known how much I would have liked these, I would have taken a whole bunch to go! They would have tasted amazing with my morning tea!dominique-ansel-bakery-cronut-nyc-3

Anyway after we were done with the bakery, we strolled around SOHO a bit, which is the part of town this bakery was in.soho-nyc-1

It was a pretty cool neighborhood, lots of art in different places.soho-nyc-2image-1

LOMBARDI’S – NYC PIZZA

We also found out that Lombardi’s was located here so that was our next stop. Breakfast and lunch within two hours of each other? Yes please! That’s what you have to do when you are on a time crunch and have to do everything possible!lombardis-pizza-nyc-1

Lombardi’s is a famous pizza place in NYC. It is claimed to be the first pizzeria in the US!lombardis-pizza-nyc-2

We shared a pizza and made half of it classic (fresh mozarella and basil) and the the other half was loaded with veggies.lombardis-pizza-nyc-3lombardis-pizza-nyc-4

Although it was delicious, I prefer Grimaldi’s more! For those of you who love this place, sorry lol but just giving my true opinion!

CENTRAL PARK

After we were done we headed towards Central Park, because we couldn’t leave NYC without seeing Central Park!central-park-nyc-6

I had been to it once before but only walked around a little bit. I never realized just how huge it actually was. Even this time around we only maybe saw half of it. But whatever I saw of it, I really liked a lot!central-park-nyc-1 central-park-nyc-2 central-park-nyc-3

I love seeing a bit of nature in the middle of cities because sometimes you just need a break from all those high rises!

My favorite part of this park was the Bethesda Terrace.central-park-nyc-5

It had an upper level and a lower level. From the upper level you had a view of the beautiful fountain. (And yet again, a great place to people watch.) Then once you got down the steps, you come across this beautiful lower passage.bethesda-terrace-central-park-nyc-1

Colorful tiles adorned the ceilings and pretty much every surface. I enjoyed walking through it while performers sang. It was such a perfect place for them because their music echoed beautifully throughout the terrace.bethesda-terrace-central-park-nyc-2 bethesda-terrace-central-park-nyc-3

I completely fell in love with it. I think if there was one place I would have liked to spend more time, it would have been here.bethesda-terrace-central-park-nyc-4

Alas, it was time to go on to our next and final stop before heading home, the Staten Island Ferry. We took the ferry so we could see the Statue of Liberty.

STATEN ISLAND FERRYstatue-of-liberty-nyc-4

Honestly, I think this is the best way to see Lady Liberty because I can’t imagine how anyone would see the whole thing once you are right up next to it. And as far as going inside? I’ve been in it once and I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s just such narrow staircases and so crowded and the view from the top is not the best. I’d take the view from the Empire State Building any day!staten-island-ferry-nycstatue-of-liberty-nyc-3 statue-of-liberty-nyc-2

Plus the Staten Island Ferry is FREE to get on! So it’s even better for those wanting to see it all on a  budget. It runs every 30 minutes and is a 20 minute ride one way. The ride is enjoyable and the views are pretty nice. Not too shabby for a free ride in my opinion.staten-island-ferry-nyc-1

Well there you have it, that was our trip. We saw A LOT in just two days so it’s definitely doable but I wouldn’t recommend it. If you are ever in NYC and on a time crunch, I’d suggest picking a few spots that you really would like to see, and enjoying those to the fullest.

If someone asked me three places to definitely see in NYC I’d say The Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and The Empire State Building. Those are my favs, what are yours? Have you ever been?

Hope you enjoyed my pictures and tips. Don’t forget to Pin and share! Thank you!!

  1. Wow!! your photos are amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed the sights and food… you sure had a great time 🙂

  2. Such great photos!! I haven’t ever tried a cronut, but kinda want to now! 🙂 Lombardi’s is the ABSOLUTE best pizza place! I’m so jealous of your experience though, when I was in New York it was winter time, so snowing and FREEZING! Central Park looks much nicer the way you saw it!

Yea, New York in the summer is a whole another experience, you HAVE to go again!

  3. Great pictures of what seemed to be another lovely day in NYC. I’ve always wanted to try a cronut as well, but I think it would also be too rich for me. But the DKAs look really delicious! 🙂
