So basically, my trips to Pakistan consist of spending time with my family and eating amazing food. Since we go after many years and for short periods of time it’s hard to do too much sightseeing. However, we did manage to squeeze one day for it, in the city of Lahore.
When our driver picked us up, he assumed we wanted to go to all the biggest shopping centers in the city. When we told him we weren’t interested in shopping and instead wanted to see some historic sites, he was shocked. I think mainly because that is what a lot of people like to do when they go to Pakistan, things are a bit cheaper.
We saw four sites in one day (with 2 kids under the age of 4)! My family and I have a knack of squeezing too many things in one day! lol
Our first stop was the Tomb of Jahangir. This is a mausoleum built for the Emperor Jahangir who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1605 to 1627. It was constructed in Mughal style and influenced by the Safavid style from Persia (where his wife, Nur Jahan was from).
The facade is made from red sandstone inlaid with marble motifs.
When you enter, you have to walk through the chahar bagh (four-part garden) before you get to the actual tomb which is situated in the center of the gardens. 
The interior is embellished with frescoes and marble.
I didn’t think it would be as big as it was. But then again, an emperor’s tomb has to be set apart doesn’t it?

Such beautiful architecture and very reminiscent of the palaces and tombs in Agra and Delhi, India.
I’ve never been to India, but I would love to go one day!
