A Tropical Brunch

It’s summertime which means its also wedding season! So naturally, I have two weddings to attend. This also means I am going to be hosting a party or two and helping with the planning. Which are some of the things I love doing!

Here is the setup for the first one I did just this past weekend. I had a brunch at around 11 a.m. with a tropical theme. It was set up in the patio and I kind of went crazy and designed all sorts of fun stationery to go with the whole thing.Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Brunch

GARLAND

I started off by making a garland that I made from real and fake plants. I literally went into my friend, D’s yard and asked if I could pick some leaves and flowers. Then I ordered these palm and monstera leaves from amazon and put it all together using fishing line and floral wire.Tropical Bridal Shower Party Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,

TABLESCAPE

For the table, I purchased a white paper tablecloth from Party City, borrowed a blue scarf from D (used it as a table runner) and filled two mason jars and one square vase (that I already have at home) with some store bought flowers from Giant & the ones I picked from D’s yard. For the plates, I purchased bio-degradable plates made from fallen palm leaves!! They were so cool! I really loved the texture they gave to the table! I also liked that each plate was different. Additionally, I placed one leaf on each plate and then placed a fork and a knife on top of that (the fork and knife not pictured because I forgot and my usual assistant was one of the bride-to-be so I was short on hands. 😉Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor, Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,

THE FOOD

Not all of the food got photographed either. :/ But the menu was:

1. Pancakes with whipped butter and organic syrup

2. Avocado toast with fried egg (I have the how-to/recipe of this on my instagram “Tay Cooks” highlights) topped with some pico de gaillo

3. Vegetable omelette

4. Potato skillet with veggies and cheese

5. Blueberry bread with a lemon glaze- I used this recipe. I followed it exact but put the batter in a bread pan rather than make muffins. I also didn’t add the crumb topping on the top and instead made a lemon glaze with powdered sugar, butter and lemon juice.

6. Tropical yogurt parfaits (these were so cute, I really regret not getting photos of them!)

7. Some tropical fruit (mangoes, pineapple and watermelon)- The fruits were brought on to the table once everyone started eating and they added some great color to the table as well.

8. Mango-pineapple juice- 2 cups pineapple juice, 2 cups mango juice, 1/2 cup FRESH lime juice, some ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint and lime slices. I have never made drinks as I’m mostly an H2O drinker but everyone liked this and it’s easy enough to make!Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,

THE FLOWER CROWN

I always make flower crowns, because why not? This time I kept it kind of minimal with just one type of flower (part of a hydrangea) and one type of greenery and it turned out pretty whimsical and perfect for T who was wearing it! 🙂Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,

THE ACTIVITIES

I designed a couple of things for the guests to fill out like recipe cards and advise cards. I also made Pakistani/Indian bingo cards. I have made a fill-in-the-blank version of the invitations and added this invitation plus recipe and words of wisdom card to my Etsy Shop. You can check it out HERE. Tropical Bridal Shower Party, Tropical Decor,

Besides the stationery fun, we also played a game of guessing songs based on just listening to instrumental versions, both desi and american. I looked up songs on youtube and played them on my phone. It was easy enough and pretty fun!

In conclusion, the hardest part was trying to figure out how to put the garland on a brick wall! How do people hang things on brick?? I need to figure that out.

Other than that, it was a successful brunch and I hope this has inspired you to add a little flair to your next brunch party!
